Empoli 1-1 Verona: Honours even at Carlo Castellani

Empoli were helde ach other to a 1-1 draw by Verona on Wednesday at Carlo Castellani. Empoli were aiming to improve their league standing following a disappointing 1-1 draw with Lecce in their previous game. Verona were beaten 1-0 in their previous match against Atalanta. Empoli and Verona are 14th, (3 points) and 15th, (2 points), spots respectively, after 4 matches.

Empoli started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, when Tommaso Baldanzi found the net, 26 minutes in, finishing the first half 1-0.

Verona took the initiative in the second half, thanks to a goal from Yayah Kallon in the 69th minute, leaving the final score at 1-1.

Substitutions for Empoli included Nedim Bajrami, Razvan Marin, Liam Henderson, Mattia Destro and Jacopo Fazzini for Tommaso Baldanzi, Alberto Grassi, Nicolas Haas, Sam Lammers and Martin Satriano, respectively. Verona brought on Isak Hien, Filippo Terracciano, Miguel Veloso, Josh Doig and Yayah Kallon, to replace Federico Ceccherini, Davide Faraoni, Martin Hongla, Adrien Tameze and Kevin Lasagna.

The referee booked four players from Verona, Davide Faraoni, Federico Ceccherini, Pawel Dawidowicz and Miguel Veloso.

Empoli will next travel to Salernitana, while Verona will face Sampdoria at home.
