Empoli strolled past AC Monza with a 1-0 win on Saturday at Carlo Castellani. Empoli arrived with the intention of improving their league position after a 1-1 draw against Torino while ASS were coming from consecutive wins against Spezia Calcio and Sampdoria. Empoli and ASS currently occupy 14th and 12th spots in the league, with 11 points and 10 points respectively after 10 matches.

Empoli started the match strongly, when Nicolas Haas found the net on the 11 minute mark, finishing the first half 1-0. Both teams unable to deliver anything further, the score remained at 1-0 at full time.

Substitutions for Empoli included Nedim Bajrami, Tyronne Ebuehi, Sam Lammers, Razvan Marin and Jacopo Fazzini for Tommaso Baldanzi, Petar Stojanovic, Mattia Destro, Liam Henderson and Filippo Bandinelli, respectively. ASS brought on Giulio Donati, Andrea Colpani, Marco D`Alessandro, Samuele Birindelli and Andrea Barberis for Marlon, Matteo Pessina, Gianluca Caprari, Patrick Ciurria and Pablo Mari.

The referee booked Petar Stojanovic, Mattia Destro, Liam Henderson, Koni De Winter and Razvan Marin from Empoli. ASS had the worst of it though, with Stefano Sensi, Pablo Mari and Luca Caldirola seeing yellow, and Nicolo Rovella then sent off with a red.

Next up, Empoli are away to Juventus, whilst ASS will travel to face AC Milan.
