Bologna 0 – Empoli 1: The Greyhounds beaten at home by Azzurri

Empoli’s 1-0 win over Bologna on Saturday, was hard fought at Renato Dall’ara. Bologna had been hopeful of continuing their good run after winning last match whilst Empoli were beaten 2-1 in their previous match against Roma. Bologna and Empoli are 14th, (6 points) and 11th, (7 points), spots respectively, after 7 matches.

After an uneventful first half, Empoli continued to pile on the pressure in the second period and were rewarded, when Filippo Bandinelli gave them the lead in the 75th minute. They managed to close the match out with a clean sheet and a well-earned of 1-0 victory.

Substitutions for Bologna included Nicolas Dominguez, Denso Kasius, Emanuel Vignato, Michel Aebischer and Joshua Zirkzee for Roberto Soriano, Lorenzo De Silvestri, Jerdy Schouten, Gary Medel and Riccardo Orsolini, respectively. Empoli replaced Nicolo Cambiaghi, Liam Henderson, Alberto Grassi, Marko Pjaca and Jacopo Fazzini with Martin Satriano, Nedim Bajrami, Razvan Marin, Nicolas Haas and Filippo Bandinelli.

There were bookings for Denso Kasius and Nicolas Dominguez from Bologna. For Empoli, Alberto Grassi, Liam Henderson and Jacopo Fazzini saw yellow.

Bologna will next play Juventus away, with Empoli facing AC Milan at home.
