Atalanta 1 – Verona 2: The Yellow and Blues travel to the Gewiss Stadium and seal win

Atalanta on Monday lost to Hellas Verona on a home defeat at the Gewiss Stadium. With each team arriving on the back of a league defeat, they were both keen to pick up points. Atalanta were looking forward to meeting again, following a previous defeat to Sassuolo. Verona, on the other hand, were beaten 2-0 in the previous match against Internazionale. After today’s result, Atalanta are in 8th place on the table and has 51 points while Verona sit in 10th with 45 points after 33 matches.

Verona started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, with Federico Ceccherini giving The Yellow and Blues the lead just before half-time, finishing the first half 0-1.

Verona started the second half with renewed vigour, thanks to Teun Koopmeiners finding the net, at 55 minutes. In the end though, Atalanta in the 82nd minute hit back though following a Giorgio Scalvini goal, leaving the final score at 2-1.

For Atalanta, Aleksey Miranchuk, Giuseppe Pezzella, Luis Muriel, Berat Djimsiti and Mario Pasalic, came on for Ruslan Malinovskyi, Hans Hateboer, Jeremie Boga, Merih Demiral and Giorgio Scalvini. Verona replaced Bosko Sutalo, Miguel Veloso, Kevin Lasagna, Fabio Depaoli and Martin Hongla with Koray Gunter, Federico Ceccherini, Giovanni Simeone, Darko Lazovic and Gianluca Caprari.

There were bookings for Jose Luis Palomino, Ruslan Malinovskyi and Teun Koopmeiners from Atalanta. For Verona, Koray Gunter, Nicolo Casale and Federico Ceccherini saw yellow.

Atalanta will next travel to Venezia, while Verona will face Sampdoria at home.
