AC Milan snatched all three points from Atalanta in a 2-0 victory on Sunday, at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. Both teams arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Milan were keen to hang onto their position at the top of league and extend their winning run after winning their previous two matches against Hellas Verona away and Fiorentina at home, by 3-1 and 1-0 respectively. Atalanta, on the other hand, were able to continue their winning streak after a 3-1 win against Spezia Calcio in their last match. As the table looks today, Milan are in 1st place, with 80 points from 37 matches, while Atalanta sit in 8th, with 59 points from 37.

After an un-eventful first half, Milan piled on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Rafael Leao in the 56th minute. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Theo Hernandez at the 75 minute mark to make it 2-0.

For Milan, Junior Messias, Ante Rebic, Ismael Bennacer, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Alessandro Florenzi, came on for Alexis Saelemaekers, Olivier Giroud, Sandro Tonali, Rade Krunic and Davide Calabria. Atalanta replaced Luis Muriel, Mario Pasalic, Matteo Pessina, Jose Luis Palomino and Hans Hateboer for Duvan Zapata, Ruslan Malinovskyi, Jeremie Boga, Merih Demiral and Giorgio Scalvini.

There were bookings for Olivier Giroud, Franck Kessie and Ismael Bennacer from Milan, and Teun Koopmeiners and Ruslan Malinovskyi, for Atalanta.
