Viktoria 2-4 Bayern: The Reds win high-scoring duel at Plzen

Viktoria on Wednesday lost to Bayern Munich on a home defeat at Doosan Arena. Viktoria were looking to get back to winning ways after losing their last match 5-0 to Bayern Munich whilst Bayern were coming from consecutive wins against Viktoria Pilsen and Barcelona. Viktoria and Bayern are 4th, (0 points) and 1st, (12 points), in the table respectively, after 4 matches.

The Reds started strongly in the first half, when Sadio Mane found the net, 10 minutes in. The momentum was again with Bayern, who then scored again courtesy of a goal from Thomas Muller in the 14th minute to establish a 2-0 result. Bayern then scored once more and increased their lead thanks to a 2nd effort from Leon Goretzka, at 35 minutes, finishing the first half 4-0.

Viktoria took the initiative in the second half, when Adam Vlkanova found the net, 62 minutes in. However they weren’t finished yet and Jan Kliment made it 4-2, at 75 minutes to make it 4-2.

Substitutions for Viktoria included Erik Jirka, Ludek Pernica, Jan Kliment, Libor Holik and Vaclav Pilar for Jan Kopic, Vaclav Jemelka, Tomas Chory, Milan Havel and Adam Vlkanova, respectively. Bayern brought on Mathys Tel, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, Ryan Gravenberch, Paul Wanner and Marcel Sabitzer for Thomas Muller, Kingsley Coman, Leon Goretzka, Dayot Upamecano and Leroy Sane.

There were bookings for John Mosquera from Viktoria, and Noussair Mazraoui and Marcel Sabitzer, for Bayern.

Next up, Viktoria are away to Internazionale, whilst Bayern will travel to face Barcelona.
