Freiburg 4-1 Union Berlin: The Iron Ones slump as Freiburg get the jump on them
SC Freiburg eased past Union Berlin in a 4-1 victory on Sunday at Europa-Park-Stadion. Freiburg arrived at the match looking to pick up more points after losing 3-1 to RB Leipzig in their previous fixture. Union Berlin, meanwhile, had managed to pick up a point in their matchup with Augsburg. Freiburg are now in 2nd place on the table and have 30 points while Union Berlin sit in 5th with 27 points after 15 matches.
Breisgau Brazilians started strongly in the first half, with an early penalty goal from Vincenzo Grifo in the 4th minute. Freiburg looked to have the match under control when they scored again to grab the advantage, thanks to a effort from Vincenzo Grifo in the 6th minute to establish a 2-0. The momentum was again with Freiburg, who then scored again courtesy of a hat trick effort from Vincenzo Grifo on the 20 minute mark to establish a 3-0 result. However they weren’t finished yet and Michael Gregoritsch made it 4-0 just before half-time, finishing the first half 4-0.
The Iron Ones took the initiative in the second half, with a goal from Sven Michel just before the full time. The match ended with a 4-1 win for Freiburg.
