PSV 5-0 Zürich: Züri Akademie blown away at the Philips Stadion

PSV suffered an away loss to PSV on Thursday at the Philips Stadion. PSV were looking to continue their good run, following a 5-1 victory against Zürich. Zürich had lost their previous match against PSV. PSV and Zürich currently occupy 2nd and 4th spots in the league, with 7 points and 0 points respectively after 4 matches.

PSV didn’t take long to start the rout, when Erick Gutierrez opened the rout, at 9 minutes. PSV looked to have the match under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a goal from Joey Veerman in the 15th minute to establish a 2-0. However they weren’t finished yet and Ibrahim Sangare made it 3-0, 34 minutes in, finishing the first half 3-0.

PSV started strong in the second half and were able to dominate, when Joey Veerman found the net once more, at 55 minutes. PSV then scored again and increased their advantage thanks to a goal from Anwar El Ghazi on the 84 minute mark to make it 5-0.

Substitutions for PSV included Richard Ledezma, Anwar El Ghazi, Johan Bakayoko, Savio and Jordan Teze for Xavi Simons, Cody Gakpo, Joey Veerman, Ibrahim Sangare and Armando Obispo, respectively. Zürich brought on Ole Selnaes, Jonathan Okita, Bledian Krasniqi, Donis Avdijaj and Fabian Rohner, to replace Cheick Oumar Conde, Bogdan Vyunnik, Antonio Marchesano, Tosin Aiyegun and Marc Hornschuh.

There were bookings for Richard Ledezma from PSV, and Karol Mets, Antonio Marchesano and Lindrit Kamberi, for Zürich.

PSV next face Arsenal while Zürich are at home to Bodo Glimt.
