PSG 1 – Benfica 1: Victory elusive at the Parc des Princes for both sides

On Tuesday, PSG and Benfica played out a 1-1 draw at the Parc des Princes. With both teams drawing in their previous fixtures, they were each keen to pick up points. PSG were looking for a victory following a disappointing 1-1 draw with Benfica in their previous game. Benfica, meanwhile, had secured a point against Paris Saint-Germain in their previous match. both teams are now on 8 points and occupy 1st and 2nd places respectively after 4 matches.

Benfica took the initiative in the second half, when Joao Mario found the net in the 62nd minute, leaving the final score at 1-1.

Substitutions for PSG included Hugo Ekitike, Nordi Mukiele, Fabian Ruiz and Carlos Soler for Pablo Sarabia, Juan Bernat, Vitinha and Kylian Mbappe, respectively. Benfica brought on Gilberto, Rodrigo Pinho, Julian Draxler, Diogo Goncalves and Chiquinho, to replace Alexander Bah, Goncalo Ramos, Rafa Silva, Florentino Luis and Joao Mario.

There were bookings for Pablo Sarabia and Marco Verratti from PSG. For Benfica, Nicolas Otamendi, Joao Mario, Florentino Luis, Enzo Fernandez and Gilberto saw yellow.

Benfica and PSG will next play at home to Juventus and Maccabi Haifa FC respectively.
