Mainz 1-1 Frankfurt: The 05ers dig in at home to hold up The Eagles

On Sunday, Mainz and Frankfurt played out a 1-1 draw at the OPEL Arena. Mainz arrived at the match looking to pick up more points after losing 1-0 to Schalke in their previous fixture. Frankfurt were coming from consecutive wins against Hoffenheim and Augsburg. Mainz are currently 10th with 19 points from 15 matches, while Frankfurt sit in 3rd, with 27 points from 15.

Mainz started the first half well, when Jonathan Michael Burkardt found the net just before half-time

The Eagles took the initiative in the second half, when Randal Kolo Muani found the net, 67 minutes in, leaving the final score at 1-1.

Substitutions for Mainz included Danny Da Costa, Aymen Barkok, Lee Jae Sung, Anthony Caci and Marcus Ingvartsen for Silvan Widmer, Jonathan Michael Burkardt, Anton Stach, Aaron Martin and Karim Onisiwo, respectively. Frankfurt brought on Hrvoje Smolcic, Sebastian Rode, Luca Pellegrini and Lucas Alario for Kristijan Jakic, Jesper Lindstrom, Ansgar Knauff and Sebastian Rode.

There were bookings for Stefan Bell and Aaron Martin from Mainz, and Tuta and Randal Kolo Muani, for Frankfurt.

Mainz will next play Stuttgart away, with Frankfurt facing Schalke at home.
