Hellas Verona fell to a home defeat at the hands of Roma at the Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi on Monday. Both teams came from defeats in their previous league games. Verona arrived at the match looking to pick up more points after losing their last match 2-1 to Sassuolo. Roma were beaten 1-0 in their previous match against Napoli. Verona are now in 19th place on the table and have 5 points while Roma sit in 4th with 25 points after 12 matches.

The Yellow and Blues dominated the first half, when Pawel Dawidowicz gave them the lead, 26 minutes in. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Nicolo Zaniolo equalised for Roma just before half-time, finishing the first half 1-1.

Giallorossi continued to pile on the pressure in the second period and were rewarded, when Cristian Volpato found the net on the 88 minute mark. They then scored again, pulling level thanks to a goal from Stephan El Shaarawy just before the full time to make it 3-1.

Substitutions for Verona included Isak Hien, Kevin Lasagna, Giangiacomo Magnani, Milan Djuric and Sulemana for Federico Ceccherini, Yayah Kallon, Miguel Veloso, Thomas Henry and Martin Hongla, respectively. Roma brought on Stephan El Shaarawy, Cristian Volpato, Andrea Belotti, Nemanja Matic and Eldor Shomurodov for Bryan Cristante, Nicolo Zaniolo, Nicola Zalewski, Gianluca Mancini and Mady Camara.
