Gimnasia 0-1 San Lorenzo: Visitors defy the odds to extend good form

San Lorenzo enjoyed an away victory against Gimnasia at Estadio Juan Carmelo Zerillo on Wednesday. Both Gimnasia and San Lorenzo arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Gimnasia had been hopeful of continuing their good run after winning last match. San Lorenzo were able to continue their winning streak after a 1-0 win against Vélez Sarsfield in their last match. Gimnasia are currently 6th with 40 points from 25 matches, while San Lorenzo sit in 9th, with 37 points from 25.

Following a goalless first half, San Lorenzo continued to pile on the pressure in the second period, when Adam Bareiro gave them the lead, 64 minutes in. The match ended with a 1-0 win for San Lorenzo.

Both coaches used the full entitlement. Substitutions for Gimnasia included Matias Melluso, Alan Lescano and Alexis Dominguez for Benjamin Dominguez, Erik Ramirez and Brahian Aleman, respectively, San Lorenzo brought on Nahuel Barrios, Nestor Ortigoza and Gonzalo Lujan Melli, to replace Ezequiel Cerutti, Ignacio Mendez and Andres Vombergar.

Gimnasia and San Lorenzo played a rough game where the referee sanctioned Gimnasia with yellow cards to Brahian Aleman and Erik Ramirez and with red card to Nicolas Colazo, while from San Lorenzo Adam Bareiro, Malcom Braida, Agustin Giay, Nestor Ortigoza and Gaston Hernandez were booked and red to Agustin Giay (2 yellow cards).

Gimnasia will next play Argentinos Juniors at home, with San Lorenzo facing CA Sarmiento away.
