On Monday, São Paulo suffer an away defeat to Santos FC at Urbano Caldeira. Santos were looking forward to meeting again, following a previous defeat to America Mineiro whilst São Paulo were able to continue their winning streak after a 3-0 win against Red Bull Bragantino in their last match. As things stand, Santos and São Paulo sit 10th, (30 points) and 12th, (29 points), in the league respectively, after 23 matches.

Santos started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, when Lucas Braga gave Santos the lead, 33 minutes in to see out the first half 1-0. Both teams struggled to produce anything meaningful in the second half, leaving the final score at 1-0.

Substitutions for Santos included Lucas Henrique Barbosa, Angelo, Luiz Felipe and Guilherme Camacho for Gabriel Carabajal, Lucas Braga, Marcos Leonardo and Rodrigo Fernandez, repectively. São Paulo brought on Reinaldo, Pablo Maia, Igor Vinicius, Jonathan Calleri and Nahuel Bustos for Welington, Gabriel Neves, Marcos Guilherme, Maycon Nikao and Luciano.

There were bookings for Eduardo Bauermann, Marcos Leonardo and Felipe Jonatan from Santos. For São Paulo, Maycon Nikao saw yellow.

Santos will next travel to Cuiaba, while São Paulo will face Fortaleza EC at home.
