Santos 1-2 Mineiro: Atletico steal the show at Urbano Caldeira

Santos on Thursday lost to Atl. Mineiro on a home defeat at Urbano Caldeira. Santos arrived at the match looking to pick up more points, following defeat to Internacional. Mineiro were looking to extend their winning run after a 2-0 victory against Fluminense. Santos and Mineiro currently occupy 13th and 7th spots in the table, with 37 points and 46 points respectively after 30 matches.

After an uneventful first half, Mineiro continued to pile on the pressure in the second period and were rewarded, with a goal from Hulk, 72 minutes in. However, their lead didn’t last for long, Marcos Leonardo producing an equaliser in the 88th minute, bringing Santos level. Mineiro in turn, then responded just before the full time, grabbing the lead with an effort from Ignacio Fernandez, seing the match finish 2-1.

Substitutions for Santos included Lucas Braga, Lucas Henrique Barbosa, Sandry, and for Yeferson Soteldo, Luan, Carlos Sanchez, and, respectively. Mineiro brought on Ignacio Fernandez, Alan Kardec, Calebe, Eduardo Sasha and Rever, to replace Ademir, Matias Zaracho, Cristian Pavon, Hulk and Otavio.

The referee booked Lucas Braga and Joao Paulo from Santos and Nathan went off with a red card, while Mineiro’s Jemerson, Ademir, Everson and Allan also received a yellow.

Mineiro and Santos will next play at home to Ceará and Juventude respectively.
