Palmeiras 1-1 Flamengo: Hosts snap Scarlet-Black’s big winning streak

On Sunday, Palmeiras and Flamengo were held to a 1-1 draw at Allianz Parque. Both Palmeiras and Flamengo arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Palmeiras were keen to hang onto their position at the top of league and extend their winning run after winning their previous two matches in the competition. The most recent was against the Corinthians away (1-0), the other to Goiás EC at home (3-0). Flamengo were coming from consecutive wins against Athletico Paranaense and São Paulo. As the table looks today, Palmeiras are in 1st place in the table and have 49 points while Flamengo sit in 3rd with 40 points after 23 matches.

The first half of the match started well for Flamengo, when Victor Hugo Gomes Silva found the net, at 29 minutes to see out the first half 1-0.

Palmeiras took the initiative in the second half, when Raphael Veiga found the net, at 66 minutes, leaving the final score at 1-1.

Substitutions for Palmeiras included Mayke, Gabriel Menino, Jose Manuel Lopez, Bruno Tabata and Wesley for Marcos Rocha, Danilo, Rony, Raphael Veiga and Dudu, repectively. Flamengo brought on Everton Ribeiro, Pedro, Giorgian De Arrascaeta, Gabriel Barbosa and Arturo Vidal, to replace Victor Hugo Gomes Silva, Marinho, Lazaro, Everton and Joao Gomes.

The referee booked Joao Gomes and Arturo Vidal for Flamengo.

Next up, Palmeiras are away to Fluminense, whilst Flamengo will travel to face Botafogo.
