Palmeiras 1-0 Cuiaba: Second-half strike from Veron gives Palmeiras narrrow win

Palmeiras beat Cuiaba with a thumping 1-0 victory on Tuesday at Allianz Parque. Palmeiras arrived with the intention of increasing their league score following a disappointing 0-0 draw with Fortaleza EC in their previous game. Cuiaba were coming from consecutive wins against Botafogo and Avai. As it stands, Palmeiras are currently 1st with 33 points from 17 matches, while Cuiaba sit in 15th, with 19 points from 17.

After a goalless first half, Whatever was said in the dressing room at half time, seemed to have a positive effect on Palmeiras who started the second half well, with an early goal from Gabriel Veron in the 49th minute, leaving the final score at 1-0.

Substitutions for Palmeiras included Breno, Ze Rafael, Eduard Atuesta, Wesley and Vanderlan for Gabriel Veron, Gabriel Menino, Raphael Veiga, Dudu and Joaquin Piquerez, repectively. Cuiaba brought on Andre Luis, Pepe, Marcao Silva, Andre and Uendel, to replace Valdivia, Kelvin Osorio, Alesson, Rodriguinho and Igor Carius.

There were bookings for Gustavo Gomez, Murilo Cerqueira and Eduard Atuesta from Palmeiras. For Cuiaba, Joao Lucas saw yellow.

Palmeiras will play away against America Mineiro, while Cuiaba will face Atl. Mineiro at home.
