Palmeiras 4-0 Coritiba: Leaders easily extend winning streak

Palmeiras beat Coritiba with a 4-0 victory on Friday at Allianz Parque. Both teams arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Palmeiras were keen to hang onto their position at the top of the table and extend their winning run after winning their previous two matches against Botafogo away and Atl. Mineiro away, by 3-1 and 1-0 respectively. Coritiba, meanwhile, were looking to extend their winning run after a 1-0 victory against Ceará. Palmeiras are now in 1st place on the table and have 66 points while Coritiba sit in 16th with 31 points after 30 matches.

It was an impressive opening from Palmeiras, when Mayke opened the rout in the 15th minute. However they weren’t finished yet and Rony made it 2-0 in the 34th minute. The score at half time remained 2-0.

Palmeiras started strong in the second half and were able to dominate, when Gustavo Gomez found the net in the 51st minute. However they weren’t finished yet and Breno made it 4-0 in the 77th minute to make it 4-0.

Substitutions for Palmeiras included Gabriel Menino, Endrick Felipe Moreira de Sousa, Breno, Bruno Tabata and Miguel Merentiel for Eduard Atuesta, Rony, Mayke, Gustavo Scarpa and Dudu, respectively. Coritiba replaced Biel, Leo Gamalho, Egidio, Thonny Anderson and Jose Hugo Sousa dos Santos with Alef Manga, Fabricio Daniel, Rafael Santos, Gabriel Boschilia and Warley.

There were bookings for Eduard Atuesta from Palmeiras, and Gabriel Boschilia and Thonny Anderson, for Coritiba.

Palmeiras will play their next fixture away against Atlético Goianense, while Coritiba will face Red Bull Bragantino at home.
