Palmeiras 3 – Avai 0: Bad day for visitors at Allianz Parque

Palmeiras banked all three points against the Avai in a 3-0 victory on Sunday, at Allianz Parque. Palmeiras were aiming to improve their league standing after a scoreless draw against São Paulo in their previous match, while Avai had lost their previous match against Fluminense. Palmeiras are now in 1st place on the table and have 71 points while Avai sit in 19th with 28 points after 33 matches.

Palmeiras started strongly in the first half, with an early penalty goal from Gustavo Scarpa in the 4th minute, and they saw out the first half 1-0.

Palmeiras started strong in the second half and were able to dominate, thanks to a goal from Dudu, 55 minutes in. Palmeiras then scored once more and increased their advantage thanks to a goal from Vanderlan just before the final whistle to make it 3-0.

Substitutions for Palmeiras included Breno, Gabriel Menino, Endrick Felipe Moreira de Sousa, Eduard Atuesta and Vanderlan for Dudu, Gustavo Scarpa, Rony, Ze Rafael and Mayke, respectively. Avai brought on Bissoli, Romulo dos Santos, Vitinho and Jean Cleber, to replace William Pottker, Kevin, Jean Pyerre and Pablo Dyego.

There were bookings for Gustavo Scarpa and Breno from Palmeiras. For Avai, Vladimir and Bissoli saw yellow.

Next up, Palmeiras are away to Athletico Paranaense, whilst Avai will travel to face Cuiaba.
