Internacional 1-0 Santos: Home win sees Inter keep up pressure on leaders Palmeiras

Internacional beated Santos FC 1-0 on Saturday at Estadio Beira-Rio. Internacional were aiming to improve their league standing following a disappointing 0-0 draw with Red Bull Bragantino in their previous game. Santos had been hopeful of extending their winning run, after a 2-0 victory against Athletico Paranaense. Internacional and Santos are 2nd, (53 points) and 10th, (37 points), spots respectively, after 29 matches.

It was an impressive opening from Internacional, thanks to a goal from Carlos De Pena in the 23rd minute, and they saw out the first half 1-0. Both teams struggled to produce anything meaningful in the second half, leaving the final score at 1-0.

Substitutions for Internacional included Alan Patrick, Liziero, Braian Romero, Gustavo Maia and Edenilson for Mauricio, Johnny, Alemao, Pedro Henrique and Carlos De Pena, respectively. Santos brought on Lucas Henrique Barbosa, Sandry, Ed Carlos de Arruda Amorim, Lucas Braga and Auro, to replace Luan, Guilherme Camacho, Carlos Sanchez, Angelo and Nathan.

There were bookings for Johnny from Internacional, and Guilherme Camacho, Carlos Sanchez, Luiz Felipe and Lucas Pires, for Santos.

Internacional will next travel to Flamengo, while Santos will face Atl. Mineiro at home.
