Internacional 2 – Paranaense 0: Visitors leave Estadio Beira-Rio with nothing

On Sunday, Athletico Paranaense suffered an away defeat to Internacional at Estadio Beira-Rio. Internacional arrived at the match looking to pick up more points after losing 1-0 to America Mineiro in their previous fixture. Paranaense had been hopeful of extending their winning run, after a 3-2 victory against Goiás EC. Internacional are now in 2nd place on the table and have 67 points while Paranaense sit in 6th with 54 points after 36 matches.

Following a goalless first half, Internacional piled on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Pedro Henrique in the 63rd minute. Internacional then netted once more and increased their lead thanks to a goal from Mauricio, 67 minutes in to give a final score of 2-0.

Substitutions for Internacional included Wanderson, Taison, Lucas Ramos, Rodrigo Moledo and Braian Romero for Pedro Henrique, Alan Patrick, Johnny, Mauricio and Alemao, respectively. Paranaense replaced Erick, Tomas Cuello, Romulo, Christian and Pablo Felipe with Hugo Moura, Vitinho, David Terans, Alex Santana and Vitor Roque.

Paranaense and Internacional will next play away to Atlético Goianense and São Paulo respectively.
