Fluminense beat Goiás EC with a 3-0 victory on Thursday at Maracana. Both sides arrived on the back of wins. Fluminense were looking to pick up points after winning their previous two matches against São Paulo at home and Ceará away, by 3-1 and 1-0 respectively. Goiás were able to continue their winning streak after a 1-0 win against Juventude in their last match. Fluminense are now in 3rd place, with 67 points from 37 matches, while Goiás sit in 13th, with 46 points from 37.

After an uneventful first half, Fluminense piled on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, when German Cano gave them the lead in the 78th minute. The momentum was again with Fluminense, who then scored again courtesy of a goal from Alan, 83 minutes in to establish a 2-0 result. However they weren’t finished yet and Michel Araujo made it 3-0 just before the full time to give a final score of 3-0.

Substitutions for Fluminense included Matheus Martins, Nathan, Alan, Michel Araujo and Felipe Melo for Yago Felipe, Manoel, Matheus Martinelli, Ganso and German Cano, respectively. Goiás brought on Fellipe Ramos Ignez Bastos, Apodi, Nicolas and Marquinhos Gabriel, to replace Luan Dias da Silva, Savio, Pedro Raul and Auremir.

The referee booked Ganso, Samuel Xavier and Wellington from Fluminense. Goiás had the worst of it though, with Pedro Raul and Dada Belmonte seeing yellow, and Dada Belmonte (2 yellow cards) and Fellipe Ramos Ignez Bastos then sent off with a red.

Fluminense will play their next fixture away against Red Bull Bragantino, while Goiás will face São Paulo at home.
