Fluminense 2 – Fortaleza 1: Visitors to Maracana leave with nothing

Fluminense beated Fortaleza EC 2-1 on Sunday at Maracana. Both teams arrived at the match with previous defeats in the league. Fluminense were hoping to get something from this game after losing 1-0 to Athletico Paranaense in their last match. Fortaleza lost 3-1 in their against Botafogo. Fluminense are now in 5th place on the table and have 42 points while Fortaleza sit in 13th with 30 points after 26 matches.

Fluminense started the first half well, when German Cano found the net in the 11th minute to see them go in at half time 1-0 up.

Fortaleza started the second half with an intensified spirit, when Thiago Galhardo found the net, at 51 minutes. In the end though, Fluminense took the victory with another German Cano goal on the 57 minute mark, seing the match finish 2-1.

Substitutions for Fluminense included Matheus Martinelli, Willian, Marrony and Felipe Melo for Yago Felipe, Matheus Martins, Ganso and German Cano, respectively. Fortaleza replaced Jose Welison, Ronald, Moises Vieira da Veiga, Robson and Lucas Sasha for Caio Alexandre, Pedro Rocha, Romarinho, Silvio Romero and Hercules Pereira Do Nascimento.

There were bookings for Jhon Arias from Fluminense, and Robson and Thiago Galhardo, for Fortaleza.

Next up, Fluminense are away to Flamengo, whilst Fortaleza will travel to face Juventude.
