Fluminense eased past Corinthians in a 4-0 victory on Saturday at Maracana. Fluminense were looking to continue their run after winning their previous two matches in the league. The most recent was against the Botafogo away (1-0), the other to Avai at home (2-0). Corinthians, on the other hand, are struggling for form following a draw in their last match. As it stands, Fluminense and Corinthians currently occupy 4th and 3rd spots in the table, with 24 points and 26 points respectively after 15 matches.

Fluminense started the first half well, when Manoel opened the rout at the 15 minute mark. Fluminense then netted again and increased their advantage thanks to a goal from German Cano just before halftime. The score at half time was 2-0.

Fluminense continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, when German Cano found the net again in the 71st minute. Fluminense then scored once more and increased their lead thanks to a goal from Fred just before the final whistle with a final score of 4-0.

Substitutions for Fluminense included Alexandre Jesus, Willian, Felipe Melo, Mario Pineida and Fred for Ganso, Jhon Arias, Matheus Martins, Caio Paulista and German Cano, repectively. Corinthians brought on Fabio Santos, Gustavo Mantuan, Giuliano, Roger Guedes and Adson for Lucas Piton Crivellaro, Bruno Mendez, Victor Cantillo, Junior Moraes and Guilherme Biro.

The referee booked three players from Corinthians, Guilherme Biro, Junior Moraes and Robert Renan Alves Barbosa.

Corinthians and Fluminense will next play at home to Flamengo and Ceará respectively.
