Fluminense 2 – Botafogo 2: Home advantage cancelled out by visitors

On Sunday, Fluminense and Botafogo played out a 2-2 draw at Maracana. Fluminense were looking to pick up points, following a 3-0 victory against Avai. Botafogo had lost their previous match against Internacional. Fluminense are now in 5th place, with 55 points from 33 matches, while Botafogo sit in 11th, with 44 points from 33.

Botafogo started the match strongly, thanks to a goal from Carlos Eduardo just before half-time, which saw the first half end 1-0.

Botafogo fought back, when Jefferson Ruan Pereira dos Santos found the net, at 52 minutes. However, Fluminense refused to lie down and managed to pull back a goal from Ganso after 76 minutes. They then scored again, pulling level thanks to a goal from Matheus Martins, 82 minutes in to give a final score of 2-2.

Both teams used all available substitutes. Substitutions for Fluminense included Nathan, Cristiano, Matheus Martins and Alan for Manoel, Calegari, Yago Felipe and German Cano, respectively, Botafogo brought on Romildo and Joao Victor to replace Carlos Eduardo and Jefferson Ruan Pereira dos Santos.

There were bookings for Matheus Martinelli, Ganso and Matheus Martins from Fluminense. For Botafogo, Soares and Fernando Marcal saw yellow.

Fluminense will next play Corinthians away, with Botafogo facing Red Bull Bragantino at home.
