Fluminense 0-2 America: Visitors bank the win at the Maracana

Fluminense were defeated at home by America Mineiro at Maracana on Monday. Both teams arrived at the match with previous defeats in the league. Fluminense were looking to get back to winning ways after losing 3-2 to Atlético Goianense in their last match, while America were beaten 2-1 in their previous match against São Paulo. Fluminense are now in 5th place, with 51 points from 31 matches, while America sit in 8th, with 45 points from 31.

America found the net first, with an early goal from Juninho in the 5th minute. However they weren’t finished yet and Matheusinho made it 2-0 on the 34 minute mark, concluding the first half 2-0. Both teams struggled to produce anything meaningful in the second half, leaving the final score at 2-0.

Substitutions for Fluminense included Nathan, Calegari, Willian, David Braz and Marrony for Caio Paulista, Manoel, Matheus Martins, Nino and Ganso, respectively. America brought on Gonzalo Mastriani, Patric, Martin Benitez, Gustavinho and Ze Ricardo, to replace Henrique Almeida, Matheusinho, Felipe Azevedo, Everaldo and Luan Patrick.

There were bookings for Nathan from Fluminense, and Henrique Almeida, Everaldo and Juninho, for America.

Fluminense will next travel to Avai, while America will face Fortaleza EC at home.
