Flamengo suffered an away loss to Flamengo on Thursday at Maracana. Flamengo were looking to pick up points after winning last match while Juve had managed to pick up a single point in their matchup with Goiás EC. As it stands, Flamengo and Juve currently occupy 7th and 20th spots in the table, with 27 points and 13 points respectively after 18 matches.

Flamengo started strongly in the first half, when Pedro opened the rout after only 6 minutes. The momentum was now with Flamengo, who then scored again through a second effort from Pedro in the 13th minute to establish a 2-0. However they weren’t finished yet and Everton Ribeiro made it 3-0 in the 18th minute. The score at half time was 3-0.

Flamengo continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Lazaro just before the final whistle, leaving the final score at 4-0.

Substitutions for Flamengo included Everton, Vitinho, Matheus Franca, Lazaro and Victor Hugo Gomes Silva for Pedro, Joao Gomes, Everton Ribeiro, Gabriel Barbosa and Giorgian De Arrascaeta, repectively. Juve brought on Capixaba, Elton, Isidro Pitta, Guilherme Parede and Jean Irmer, to replace Edinho, Marlon, Ricardo Bueno, Paulo Henrique and Yuri Lima.

The referee booked Gabriel Barbosa, Leo Pereira and Thiago Maia from Flamengo. Juve had the worst of it though, with Ricardo Bueno, Isidro Pitta and Elton seeing yellow, and Jadson then sent off with a red.

Flamengo will next travel to Avai, while Juve will face Ceará at home.
