Flamengo 4-1 Goianense: Goals flow easily for Flamengo at Maracana
Flamengo ease to a comfortable 4-1 win at Maracana. Flamengo were looking to pick up points after winning their previous two games against Avai away and Juventude at home, by 2-1 and 4-0 respectively. Goianense, on the other hand, had lost their previous match against America Mineiro. As the table looks today, Flamengo are in 6th place in the table and have 30 points while Goianense sit in 18th with 17 points after 20 matches.
Flamengo dominated the first half, when Lazaro opened the rout at the 22 minute mark. The momentum was now with Flamengo, who then scored again through a goal from Marinho at the 23 minute mark to establish a 2-0. Flamengo looked to have the match under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a goal from Arturo Vidal at the 33 minute mark to establish a 3-0. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Victor Hugo Gomes Silva just before halftime, which saw the first half end 4-0.
Goianense took the lead in the second half, thanks to a goal from Wellington Rato, 82 minutes in, leaving the final score at 4-1.
Substitutions for Flamengo included Vitinho, Thiago Maia, Gabriel Barbosa, Rodinei and Everton Ribeiro for Lazaro, Arturo Vidal, Marinho, Matheuzinho and Victor Hugo Gomes Silva, repectively.
