Cuiaba 1-2 Goiás: Visitors secure victory thanks to bright start

Goiás EC enjoyed an away victory against Cuiaba at Arena Pantanal on Monday. Cuiaba arrived with the intention of improving their league position after a 1-1 draw against Ceará whilst Goiás were beaten 4-2 in their previous match against Internacional. Cuiaba and Goiás currently occupy 18th and 14th spots in the table, with 31 points and 38 points respectively after 33 matches.

Goiás dominated the first half, thanks to a goal from Pedro Raul on the 8 minute mark. Goiás then netted once more and increased their lead thanks to a goal from Vinicius Silva, at 20 minutes, which saw the first half end 2-0.

Cuiaba took the lead in the second half, when Deyverson found the net, at 65 minutes, seing the match finish 2-1.

Substitutions for Cuiaba included Lucas Cardoso, Felipe Marques, Jonathan Cafu and Pepe for Gabriel Cordeiro Pirani, Rodriguinho, Paulao and Denilson Alves Borges, respectively. Goiás brought on Danilo Cardoso, Danilo Barcelos, Luan Dias da Silva, Nicolas and Matheus Sales, to replace Reynaldo, Apodi, Douglas Pele, Pedro Raul and Caio.

There were bookings for Denilson Alves Borges, Joaquim and Deyverson from Cuiaba. For Goiás, Apodi, Pedro Raul, Danilo Barcelos and Luan Dias da Silva saw yellow.

Goiás and Cuiaba will next play at home to America Mineiro and Avai respectively.
