Fortaleza EC’s 1-0 win over Cuiaba on Monday, was hard fought at Arena Pantanal. Cuiaba were hoping to get something from this game, following a previous defeat to Coritiba. Fortaleza had managed to pick up a single point in their matchup with Santos FC. As it stands, Cuiaba and Fortaleza currently occupy 17th and 18th spots in the league, with 20 points and 18 points respectively after 20 matches.

It was an impressive opening from Fortaleza, when Robson found the net, 25 minutes in, to take a 1-0 lead into half time. With both teams struggling to produce anything meaningful in the second half though, the match ended 1-0.

Substitutions for Cuiaba included Daniel Guedes, Valdivia, Andre Luis, Andre and Jenison for Joao Lucas, Kelvin Osorio, Alesson, Rodriguinho and Gabriel Cordeiro Pirani, repectively. Fortaleza replaced Matheus de Vargas, Fabricio Baiano, Silvio Romero and Romulo Otero with Thiago Galhardo, Moises Vieira da Veiga, Robson and Romarinho.

There were bookings for Joao Lucas and Igor Carius from Cuiaba, and Matheus de Vargas, Thiago Galhardo, Fernando Miguel and Romarinho, for Fortaleza.

Cuiaba will next travel to Fluminense, while Fortaleza will face Internacional at home.
