Coritiba 1-0 Avai: Visitors leave Estadio Couto Pereira empty handed

Avai fell to an away defeat at the hands of Coritiba at Estadio Couto Pereira on Saturday. Both Coritiba and Avai arrived at the match from previous defeats in the league. Coritiba arrived at the match looking pick up points, following a previous defeat to Fluminense. Avai lost 1-0 in the last match they played against Internacional. As it stands, Coritiba are in 16th place in the table and have 25 points while Avai sit in 18th with 23 points after 24 matches.

After an uneventful first half, Coritiba piled on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Fabricio Daniel, at 78 minutes. When the final wisthle blew, the result was 1-0 to Coritiba.

Substitutions for Coritiba included Bernardo Marcos Lemes, Thonny Anderson, Warley, Robinho and Rafael Santos for Willian Farias, Egidio, Alef Manga, Adrian Martinez and Diego Porfirio da Silva, repectively. Avai brought on Jean Cleber, Lucas Ventura, Natanael, Nathan Palafoz de Sousa and Jean Pyerre, to replace Rodrigo, Eduardo Biasi, Muriqui, Rafael Vaz and Bruno Silva.

There were bookings for Jhon Chancellor, Egidio, Fabricio Daniel and Bruno Gomes from Coritiba. For Avai, Rodrigo, Paolo Guerrero and Lucas Ventura saw yellow.
