Corinthians eased past Botafogo in a 1-0 victory on Sunday at Neo Quimica Arena. Both teams arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Corinthians were keen to hang onto their position at the top of league and extend their winning run after winning their previous two games against Atl. Mineiro away and Coritiba at home, by 2-1 and 3-1 respectively. Botafogo, on the other hand, had been hopeful of extending their winning run, after a 2-0 victory against Athletico Paranaense. As it stands, Corinthians and Botafogo currently occupy 2nd and 12th spots in the table, with 38 points and 24 points respectively after 20 matches.

Corinthians scored first, when Gustavo Da Silva gave Corinthians the lead at the 27 minute mark to take them into the break 1-0 up. Both teams unable to deliver anything further, the score remained at 1-0 at full time.

Substitutions for Corinthians included Willian, Yuri Alberto, Adson and Maycon for Giovane Santana do Nascimento, Roger Guedes, Gustavo Da Silva and Roni, repectively. Botafogo replaced Hugo, Luis Henrique, Vinicius Lopes and Matheus Nascimento with Fernando Marcal, Patrick De Paula, Jefferson Ruan Pereira dos Santos and Lucas Piazon.

Corinthians will next play Avai away, with Botafogo facing Ceará at home.
