Corinthians 2-1 Goianense: Home fans rewarded with victory at Neo Quimica Arena

Corinthians beated Atlético Goianense 2-1 on Thursday at Neo Quimica Arena. Both teams came from defeats in their previous league games. Corinthians were looking to get back to winning ways after losing their last match 1-0 to America Mineiro, while Goianense were beaten 2-1 in their previous match against Internacional. Corinthians are now in 4th place, with 47 points from 28 matches, while Goianense sit in 19th, with 22 points from 28.

Corinthians started strong and were rewarded, when Roger Guedes found the net in the 12th minute. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Wellington Rato equalised for Goianense, 17 minutes in, ending the first half 1-1.

Corinthians continued to pile on the pressure in the second period and were rewarded, when Yuri Alberto found the net just before the final whistle, sealing a 2-1 victory for the home side.

Substitutions for Corinthians included Lucas Piton Crivellaro, Adson, Giuliano and Mateus Vital for Fabio Santos, Gustavo Da Silva, Fausto Vera and Renato Augusto, respectively. Goianense replaced Leo Pereira, Edson, Marlon Freitas and Jefferson with Airton, Luiz Fernando, Gabriel Baralha and Arthur Henry.

The referee booked Luiz Fernando, Airton and Diego Churín for Goianense.

Corinthians will play their next fixture at home against Cuiaba, while Goianense will face Avai away.
