Corinthians fell to an away defeat at the hands of Ceará at Estadio Castelao on Sunday. Ceará were hoping to get something from this game, following a previous defeat to Fluminense. Corinthians, on the other hand, had been hopeful of extending their winning run, after a 1-0 victory against Flamengo. As things stand, Ceará are currently 17th with 18 points from 17 matches, while Corinthians sit in 2nd, with 29 points from 17.

The first half of the match started well for Corinthians, with an early goal from Roger Guedes in the 4th minute. However, their lead didn’t last for long, Bruno Pacheco producing an equaliser in the 28th minute, bringing Ceará level. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Vinicius Goes at the 33 minute mark to see out the first half 2-1.

Ceará continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, when Cleber Bomfim found the net in the 76th minute and saw the match end 3-1.

Substitutions for Ceará included Rodrigo Lindoso, Nino Paraiba, Fernando Sobral, and Dentinho for Richardson, Michel, Vinicius Lima, Cleber Bomfim and Stiven Mendoza, repectively. Corinthians brought on Lucas Piton Crivellaro, Roni, Giovane Santana do Nascimento, Rafael Ramos and Xavier, to replace Victor Cantillo, Adson, Fabio Santos, Bruno Mendez and Giuliano.

There were bookings for Cleber Bomfim from Ceará. For Corinthians, Giovane Santana do Nascimento saw yellow.
