Botafogo 1-0 São Paulo: Kayque nets the only goal of the game

On Thursday, São Paulo suffer an away defeat to Botafogo at Nilton Santos. Botafogo were looking forward to meeting again after losing their last match 1-0 to Avaí. São Paulo were looking to extend their winning run after a 1-0 victory against America Mineiro. As it stands, Botafogo are in 13th place in the table and have 15 points while São Paulo sit in 5th with 18 points after 12 matches.

After an uneventful first half, Botafogo piled on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, when Kayque gave Botafogo the lead in the 61st minute. The match ended 1-0 to Botafogo.

Substitutions for Botafogo included Daniel Borges, Barreto, Chay Oliveira and Matheus Nascimento for Renzo Saravia, Kayque, Lucas Piazon and Erison Danilo de Souza, repectively. São Paulo brought on Igor Vinicius, Emiliano Rigoni, Reinaldo, Eder and Andre Anderson, to replace Rafinha, Luciano, Welington, Diego and Patrick.

There were bookings for Patrick De Paula, Kanu, Renzo Saravia, Joel Carli, Kayque and Victor Cuesta from Botafogo, and Patrick, Jonathan Calleri and Robert Arboleda, for São Paulo.

Botafogo will next travel to Internacional, while São Paulo will face Palmeiras at home.
