Botafogo 3-0 Santos: Visitors no match for impressive Botafogo

On Friday, Santos FC suffered an away defeat to Botafogo at Nilton Santos. Botafogo were looking to pick up points after winning last match. Santos, meanwhile, had managed to pick up a point in their matchup with Avai. Botafogo are now in 8th place on the table and have 53 points while Santos sit in 12th with 47 points after 37 matches.

Botafogo started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, when Lucas Fernandes opened the rout on the 10 minute mark, which saw the first half end 1-0.

Botafogo started strong in the second half and were able to dominate, when Lucas Fernandes found the net once more on the 53 minute mark. However they weren’t finished yet and Soares made it 3-0, 70 minutes in to give a final score of 3-0.

Substitutions for Botafogo included Renzo Saravia, Patrick De Paula, Rafael, Joel Carli and Jacob Montes for Hugo, Lucas Fernandes, Daniel Borges, Victor Cuesta and Gabriel Appelt, respectively. Santos brought on Tailson, Rwan, Lucas Henrique Barbosa, Sandry and Jhojan Julio for Gabriel Carabajal, Marcos Leonardo, Angelo, Guilherme Camacho and Rodrigo Fernandez.

There were bookings for Gabriel Appelt and Hugo from Botafogo, and Gabriel Carabajal, Eduardo Bauermann, Rodrigo Fernandez and Guilherme Camacho, for Santos.

Botafogo will next travel to Athletico Paranaense, while Santos will face Fortaleza EC at home.
