Botafogo 2-1 Bragantino: Visitors leave Nilton Santos empty handed

Botafogo enjoyed a home victory against Red Bull Bragantino at Nilton Santos on Thursday. Botafogo were on the hunt for more points after a 2-2 draw against Fluminense. Bragantino, meanwhile, were able to continue their winning streak after a 4-2 win against Athletico Paranaense in their last match. Botafogo and Bragantino currently occupy 8th and 13th spots in the league, with 47 points and 41 points respectively after 34 matches.

Botafogo started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, thanks to a goal from Gabriel Appelt, 18 minutes in to see out the first half 1-0.

Bragantino took the lead in the second half, with a goal from Luan Candido in the 62nd minute. In the end though, Botafogo took the victory via a Tche Tche goal on the 71 minute mark, leaving the final score at 2-1.

Substitutions for Botafogo included Patrick De Paula, Lucas Piazon and Diego Goncalves for Joao Victor, Jefferson Ruan Pereira dos Santos and Junior Santos, respectively. Bragantino brought on Hyoran, Helinho, Carlos Eduardo and Gabriel Novaes, to replace Jadsom, Marcos Vinicios, Werik Popo and Lucas Evangelista.

There were bookings for Gabriel Appelt from Botafogo. For Bragantino, Kevin Lomonaco, Werik Popo, Gabriel Novaes and Aderlan saw yellow.

Botafogo will play at home against Cuiaba, while Bragantino will face Avai away.
