Botafogo 0 – Cuiaba 2: Visitors ecstatic after win at Nilton Santos

Cuiaba strolled past Botafogo with a 2-0 win on Wednesday at Nilton Santos. Both teams arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Botafogo were keen to hang onto their position at the top of the table and extend their winning run, following a 2-1 victory against Red Bull Bragantino. Cuiaba, meanwhile, were coming from a 1-0 win against Avai. Botafogo are now in 10th place on the table and have 47 points while Cuiaba sit in 15th with 37 points after 35 matches.

Cuiaba started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, when Andre Luis found the net just before half-time to see out the first half 1-0.

Cuiaba started strong in the second half and were able to dominate, thanks to a goal from Deyverson, 52 minutes in. The final result, Botafogo 0, Cuiaba 2.

Substitutions for Botafogo included Lucas Fernandes, Rafael, Jacob Montes, Luis Henrique and Matheus Nascimento for Joao Victor, Daniel Borges, Gabriel Appelt, Jefferson Ruan Pereira dos Santos and Junior Santos, respectively. Cuiaba brought on Felipe Marques, Camilo, Denilson Alves Borges, Rodriguinho and Joao Lucas, to replace Andre Luis, Rafael Gava, Pepe, Deyverson and Jonathan Cafu.

There were bookings for Luis Henrique from Botafogo, and Joaquim, for Cuiaba.

Botafogo will next travel to Atl. Mineiro, while Cuiaba will face Palmeiras at home.
