Botafogo 2-0 Coritiba: Comfortable three points for the Fire

Botafogo eased past Coritiba in a 2-0 victory on Sunday at Nilton Santos. Botafogo were aiming to improve their league standing after a scoreless draw against America Mineiro in their previous match. Coritiba, meanwhile, were looking to extend their winning run after a 2-0 victory against Atlético Goianense. Botafogo are now in 10th place, with 34 points from 27 matches, while Coritiba sit in 16th, with 28 points from 27.

After an uneventful first half, Botafogo applied pressure in the second and were rewarded, when Victor Cuesta gave them the lead in the 75th minute. They then scored again, pulling level thanks to a goal from Soares, 79 minutes in to give a final score of 2-0.

Substitutions for Botafogo included Joao Victor, Danilo, Gabriel Appelt, Gustavo Sauer and Lucas Piazon for Jefferson Ruan Pereira dos Santos, Tche Tche, Lucas Fernandes, Junior Santos and Carlos Eduardo, respectively. Coritiba brought on Hernan Perez, Regis, Natanael, Matias Galarza and Cadorini, to replace Warley, Robinho, Nathan, Bruno Gomes and Fabricio Daniel.

There were bookings for Carlos Eduardo and Victor Cuesta from Botafogo. For Coritiba, Luciano Castan, Robinho, Warley and Matias Galarza saw yellow.

Botafogo will play their next fixture away against Goiás EC, while Coritiba will face Ceará at home.
