Avai 1-2 Cuiaba: Cuiaba come from behind to secure a road win

Cuiaba strolled past Avai with a 2-1 win on Sunday at Estadio da Ressacada. Avai were looking for a victory following a disappointing 2-2 draw with Palmeiras in their previous game. Cuiaba lost 1-0 in the last match they played against Goiás EC. After today’s result, Avai are in 11th place in the table and have 18 points while Cuiaba sit in 18th with 13 points after 15 matches.

Avai started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, when Eduardo Biasi found the net, at 30 minutes, saw the first half 1-0.

Cuiaba staged a comeback in the second half, with an early goal from Valdivia in the 49th minute. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Joaquim at the 64 minute mark to make it 2-1.

Substitutions for Avai included Jonathan Copete, Dentinho, Jean Pyerre and Gustavo Santos for Muriqui, Morato, Lucas Ventura and Eduardo Biasi, repectively. Cuiaba brought on Alesson, Daniel Guedes, Paulao, Felipe Marques and Marcao Silva, to replace Andre Luis, Joao Lucas, Kelvin Osorio, Valdivia and Rafael Gava.

Avai will play their next fixture away against Red Bull Bragantino, while Cuiaba will face Botafogo at home.
