Avai 1-2 Goianense: Struggling Avai slip to another defeat

Atlético Goianense beated Avai 2-1 on Sunday at Estadio da Ressacada. Both teams arrived at the match with previous defeats in the league. Avai were looking to get back to winning ways after losing 4-0 to São Paulo in their last match. Goianense lost 2-1 in their against Corinthians. Avai are now in 18th place, with 28 points from 29 matches, while Goianense sit in 19th, with 25 points from 29.

Goianense found the net first, with a goal from Wellington Rato just before half-time, ending the first half 1-0.

Goianense continued to pile on the pressure in the second period and were rewarded, when Gabriel Baralha found the net in the 56th minute. In the end though, Avai pull-back via a William Pottker goal, 66 minutes in. The match ended with a 2-1 victory for Goianense.

Substitutions for Avai included Marcinho, Paolo Guerrero, Diego Matos, Lucas Silva and Jean Pyerre for Natanael, Muriqui, Thales, Bissoli and Raniele, respectively. Goianense brought on Leo Pereira, Edson, Klaus, Shaylon and Radley Norberto Simiao Gomes, to replace Luiz Fernando, Airton, Gabriel Baralha, Diego Churín and Dudu.
