Avai beat Atl. Mineiro with a 1-0 victory on Saturday at Estadio da Ressacada. With both teams drawing in their previous fixtures, they were each keen to pick up points. Avai were aiming to improve their league standing following a disappointing 1-1 draw with Athletico Paranaense in their previous game. Mineiro were unable to beat Red Bull Bragantino in a 1-1 draw. Avai and Mineiro currently occupy 17th and 7th spots in the table, with 28 points and 40 points respectively after 27 matches.

Following a goalless first half, whatever was said in the dressing room at half time, seemed to have a positive effect on Avai who started the second half strongly, when Bissoli found the net in the 54th minute. The final result, Avai 1, Mineiro 0.

Substitutions for Avai included Pablo Dyego, Sarara, Paolo Guerrero, Eduardo Biasi and Jean Cleber for Bruno Silva, Jean Pyerre, Bissoli, Natanael and Raniele, respectively. Mineiro brought on Junior Alonso, Calebe, Ademir, Alan Kardec and Mariano for Jemerson, Jair, Ignacio Fernandez, Eduardo Vargas and Guga.

There were bookings for Bruno Silva, Bruno Cortez, Raniele and Gledson from Avai, and Jemerson, Rubens and Nathan, for Mineiro.

Avai will next play São Paulo away, with Mineiro facing Palmeiras at home.
