Goianense 1-2 São Paulo: Luciano brace secures the points for the visitors

São Paulo eased past Atlético Goianense in a 2-1 victory on Sunday at Estadio Antonio Accioly. With both teams drawing in their previous fixtures, they were keen to pick up points. Goianense arrived with the intention of increasing their league score following a 1-1 draw with Ceará in their previous game. São Paulo, on the other hand, secured a point against Juventude in their previous match. As the table looks today, Goianense are in 14th place in the table and have 17 points while São Paulo sit in 9th with 19 points after 15 matches.

São Paulo started the match well, when Luciano gave São Paulo the lead, at 24 minutes. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Marlon Freitas equalised for Goianense, 27 minutes in to see out the first half 1-1.

São Paulo continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, when Luciano found the net again, at 62 minutes, leaving the final score at 2-1.

Substitutions for Goianense included Leo Pereira, Rickson and Edson for Shaylon, Gabriel Baralha and Wellington Rato, repectively. São Paulo replaced Patrick, Welington, Luciano, Rodrigo Nestor and Jonathan Calleri for Gabriel Neves, Reinaldo, Emiliano Rigoni, Pablo Maia and Eder.

There were bookings for Ramon, Gabriel Baralha, Jefferson, Shaylon and Edson from Goianense, and Diego, Jonathan Calleri, Welington, Rodrigo Nestor, Leo Pele, Luciano and Gabriel Neves, for São Paulo.

São Paulo and Goianense will next play away to Atl. Mineiro and Santos FC respectively.
