Juventude fell to an away defeat at the hands of Atlético Goianense at Estadio Antonio Accioly on Monday. With each team arriving on the back of a league defeat, they were both keen to pick up points. Goianense arrived at the match looking pick up points, following a previous defeat to Palmeiras. Juve were beaten 2-1 in the previous match against Santos FC. After today’s result, Goianense and Juve currently occupy 10th and 20th spots in the league, with 16 points and 10 points respectively after 13 matches.

Juve started the match well, with a goal from Rodrigo, 23 minutes in. The score at half time was 1-0.

Goianense continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Airton in the 59th minute. The momentum was now with Goianense, who then scored again through a goal from Wellington Rato, 63 minutes in to establish a 2-1. However they weren’t finished yet and Leo Pereira made it 3-1 just before the final whistle with a final score of 3-1.

Substitutions for Goianense included Airton, Leo Pereira, Edson, Rickson and Gabriel Noga for Luiz Fernando, Diego Churín, Gabriel Baralha, Jorginho and Marlon Freitas, repectively. Juve brought on Elton, Paulo Henrique, Paulinho, Darlan Mendes and Guilherme Parede for Jean Irmer, Oscar Ruiz, Capixaba, Jadson and Chico.

The referee booked Hayner, Gabriel Baralha and Leo Pereira from Goianense. Juve had the worst of it though, with Cesar Augusto, Capixaba and Ricardo Bueno seeing yellow, and William Matheus then sent off with a red.

Next up, Goianense are away to Ceará, whilst Juve will travel to face São Paulo.
