Goianense 1-0 Ceará: Home fans enjoy narrow home success

On Monday, Ceará suffered an away defeat to Atlético Goianense at Estadio Antonio Accioly. With both teams drawing in their previous fixtures, they were each keen to pick up points. Goianense were aiming to improve their league standing after a 1-1 draw against Juventude. Ceará had managed to pick up a point in their matchup with Cuiaba. Goianense are now in 17th place, with 33 points from 33 matches, while Ceará sit in 16th, with 34 points from 33.

It was an impressive opening from Goianense, thanks to a goal from Gazal, 24 minutes in. They then managed to see out the first half 1-0. With both teams struggling to produce anything meaningful in the second half though, the match ended 1-0.

Substitutions for Goianense included Jefferson, Edson, Leo Pereira, Marlon Freitas and Jorginho for Arthur Henry, Dudu, Airton, Luiz Fernando and Willian Maranhao, respectively. Ceará brought on Vinicius Lima, Fernando Sobral, Erick, Ze Roberto and Gabriel Lacerda, to replace Guilherme Castilho, Victor Luis, Stiven Mendoza, Richardson and Messias.

There were bookings for Luiz Fernando, Gabriel Baralha and Edson from Goianense. For Ceará, Guilherme Castilho and Richardson saw yellow.

Next up, Goianense are away to São Paulo, whilst Ceará will travel to face Internacional.
