Mineiro 2-0 Fluminense: Hosts stop Fluminense’s winning streak

Mineiro enjoyed a home victory against Fluminense at Governador Magalhaes Pinto on Saturday. Mineiro arrived at the match looking to pick up more points after losing 1-0 to Palmeiras in their last match while Fluminense were hoping to continue their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Juventude and Flamengo. Mineiro and Fluminense currently occupy 7th and 3rd spots in the table, with 43 points and 51 points respectively after 29 matches.

Mineiro scored first, when Hulk gave them the lead just before half-time

Mineiro continued to pile on the pressure in the second half and were rewarded, when Hulk found the net once more after 65 minutes. The final result, Mineiro 2, Fluminense 0.

Substitutions for Mineiro included Dodo, Guga, Ademir, Jair and Ignacio Fernandez for Rubens, Cristian Pavon, Mariano, Allan and Matias Zaracho, respectively. Fluminense brought on Michel Araujo, Marrony, Willian and Calegari, to replace Ganso, Matheus Martins, German Cano and Jhon Arias.

The referee booked Keno and Allan from Mineiro. Fluminense had the worst of it though, with Felipe Melo, Manoel and Samuel Xavier seeing yellow, and Manoel (2 yellow cards) then sent off with a red.

Mineiro next face Santos FC while Fluminense are away to Atlético Goianense.
