Mineiro 0 – Botafogo 2: Visitors steal the show at Governador Magalhaes Pinto

Mineiro were defeated at home by Botafogo at Governador Magalhaes Pinto on Tuesday. Mineiro arrived with the intention of improving their league position after a 2-2 draw against São Paulo while Botafogo were beaten 2-0 in their previous match against Cuiaba. Mineiro and Botafogo are 8th, (52 points) and 10th, (50 points), in the table respectively, after 36 matches.

After an uneventful first half, Botafogo continued to pile on the pressure in the second period and were rewarded, when Joao Victor gave them the lead, 76 minutes in. They then scored again, pulling level thanks to a goal from Soares, 84 minutes in to give a final score of 2-0.

Substitutions for Mineiro included Ademir, Cristian Pavon, Yan Phillipe Oliveira Lemos, Calebe and Rubens for Ignacio Fernandez, Keno, Matias Zaracho, Jair and Dodo, respectively. Botafogo replaced Lucas Perri, Lucas Fernandes, Luis Henrique, Joao Victor and Matheus Nascimento with Roberto Fernandez, Patrick De Paula, Jefferson Ruan Pereira dos Santos, Junior Santos and Soares.

There were bookings for Rever and Allan from Mineiro. For Botafogo, Fernando Marcal, Patrick De Paula, Lucas Perri, Gabriel Appelt and Joao Victor saw yellow.

Mineiro next face Cuiaba while Botafogo are at home to Santos FC.
