Mineiro 2-3 Paranaense: Mineiro slip to third straight leage defeat after giving up lead

Athletico Paranaense snatched all three points from Atl. Mineiro in a 3-2 victory on Monday, at Governador Magalhaes Pinto. Mineiro were looking forward to meeting again after losing their last match 3-0 to Internacional. Paranaense were able to continue their winning streak after a 1-0 win against São Paulo in their last match. Following today’s result, Mineiro and Paranaense currently occupy 7th and 4th spots in the league, with 32 points and 37 points respectively after 21 matches.

Mineiro started strongly in the first half, with a goal from Igor Rabello in the 30th minute. However, their lead was short lived, as Vitor Roque equalised for Paranaense just before halftime, to take a 1-1 lead into half time.

Mineiro started the second half with renewed vigour, when Cristian Pavon found the net in the 55th minute. However, their lead didn’t last for long, Vitor Roque producing an equaliser, 56 minutes in, bringing Paranaense level. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Agustin Canobbio just before the final whistle with a final score of 3-2.

Substitutions for Mineiro included Rubens, Jair, Keno, Hulk and Alan Kardec for Pedrinho, Dodo, Eduardo Vargas, Eduardo Sasha and Cristian Pavon, repectively. Paranaense brought on Agustin Canobbio, Khellven, Tomas Cuello, Leo Cittadini and Pedro Henrique, to replace Vitor Roque, Luis Orejuela, Vitinho, Vitor Bueno and Romulo.

There were bookings for Allan from Mineiro. For Paranaense, Pedrinho and Agustin Canobbio saw yellow.

Next up, Mineiro are away to Coritiba, whilst Paranaense will travel to face Flamengo.
