Paranaense 1-0 São Paulo: Narrow win for Paranaense thanks to second-half strike

Athletico Paranaense strolled past São Paulo with a 1-0 win on Sunday at Arena da Baixada. Paranaense were hoping to get something from this game after losing their last match 2-0 to Botafogo while São Paulo secured a point against Goiás EC in their previous match. As it stands, Paranaense and São Paulo currently occupy 4th and 10th spots in the league, with 34 points and 26 points respectively after 20 matches.

After a goalless first half, Paranaense piled on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, when Vitor Bueno found the net at the 69 minute mark, leaving the final score at 1-0.

Substitutions for Paranaense included Pedrinho, Romulo, Vitinho, Marcelo Cirino and Leo Cittadini for Abner, Vitor Roque, Tomas Cuello, Agustin Canobbio and Vitor Bueno, repectively. São Paulo brought on Igor Gomes, Jonathan Calleri, Leo Pele, Luciano and Rodrigo Nestor, to replace Rodrigo Huendra Almeida Mendonca, Luizao, Talles Costa, Maycon Nikao and Marcos Guilherme.

There were bookings for Fernandinho, Leo Cittadini and Thiago Heleno from Paranaense. For São Paulo, Luizao, Felipe Alves, Maycon Nikao and Luciano saw yellow.

Paranaense will play away against Atl. Mineiro, while São Paulo will face Flamengo at home.
