Paranaense 3 – Goiás 2: Visitors unable to get win at Arena da Baixada

Goiás EC on away loss to Paranaense at Arena da Baixada on Wednesday. Paranaense were looking to get back to winning ways after losing 3-1 to Palmeiras in their last fixture. Goiás had managed to pick up a point in their matchup with America Mineiro. Paranaense are now in 7th place on the table and have 51 points while Goiás sit in 13th with 43 points after 35 matches.

Paranaense started the match strongly, when David Terans found the net after only 6 minutes. The momentum was again with Paranaense, who then scored again courtesy of a goal from Alex Santana, 13 minutes in to establish a 2-0 result. Paranaense looked to have the match under control when they scored again to grab the advantage, thanks to a second effort from David Terans in the 29th minute to establish a 3-0. However, Goiás pull-back just before half-time, with a goal from Yan, to take a 3-1 lead into half time.

Goiás started strong in the second half and were able to dominate, when Pedro Raul found the net in the 51st minute, seing the match finish 3-2.

Substitutions for Paranaense included Erick, Agustin Canobbio, Hugo Moura, Leo Cittadini and Abner for Fernandinho, Vitor Bueno, David Terans, Alex Santana and Vitinho, respectively. Goiás brought on Hugo, Marquinhos Gabriel, Maguinho, Luan Dias da Silva and Nicolas, to replace Caetano, Apodi, Dada Belmonte, Auremir and Caio.

There were bookings for Fernandinho and Abner from Paranaense. For Goiás, Yan saw yellow.

Paranaense will next travel to Internacional, while Goiás will face Juventude at home.
