America 0-1 Palmeiras: Scarpa secures the points for Palmeiras

America on home loss to Palmeiras at Independencia on Friday. America were looking to get back their winning ways, following a previous defeat to Red Bull Bragantino. Palmeiras were looking to extend their winning run after a 1-0 victory against Cuiaba. As the table looks today, America are currently 17th with 18 points from 18 matches, while Palmeiras sit in 1st, with 36 points from 18.

After an uneventful first half, Palmeiras continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, when Gustavo Scarpa gave Palmeiras the lead, 65 minutes in, leaving the final score at 1-0.

Substitutions for America included Raul Caceres, Gustavinho, Indio Ramirez, Felipe Azevedo and Carlos Alberto for Danilo Avelar, Everaldo, Pedrinho, Matheusinho and Henrique Almeida, repectively. Palmeiras brought on Gustavo Scarpa, Jose Manuel Lopez, Breno, Mayke and Gabriel Menino, to replace Raphael Veiga, Miguel Merentiel, Wesley, Dudu and Danilo.

There were bookings for Iago Maidana, Matheusinho, Raul Caceres and Patric from America, and Wesley, Danilo and Jose Manuel Lopez, for Palmeiras.

America will next play Atlético Goianense away, with Palmeiras facing Internacional at home.
